Ridgefield kicks off new year with lazy day of jammies and movies

first_imgYou just spent a month, maybe six weeks, eating and drinking and partying your head off. How’s that head feeling now? Relax. Breathe. It’s time to get lazy. Celebrate the new year in style — by resting and regrouping. That’s the official policy in Ridgefield, where a year of monthly First Saturday festivities launches in recovery mode. Ridgefield has dubbed Saturday’s mellow celebration “Lazy Dayz.” We’re not sure how that final, erroneous Z got attached to a single-day event, but in keeping with the sluggish spirit of this occasion, who cares? “We just thought we’d do something low-key,” said Ridgefield city spokeswoman Jessica Kipp. “We rented a bunch of oversize beanbag chairs and we’re going to have a cocoa bar and munchies and just have a family movie marathon.” That’s at the Ridgefield Community Center, 210 N. Main Ave. Everyone is encouraged to show up in pajamas and slippers with blankets and pillows, and transform the place into a communal living room for the day.
