DEA Director Commends US Gov’t

first_imgColonel Anthony K. Souh, Director General of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), has commended the United States government for its continued support to Liberia through the DEA.Col. Souh made the commendation yesterday at the DEA headquarters in Fiamah, Sinkor during a farewell program hosted in honor of Madam Sally Schlegel, outgoing Country Director of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia.INL works to keep Americans safe at home by countering international crime, illegal drugs, and instability abroad. INL helps countries including Liberia deliver justice and fairness by strengthening its police, courts, and corrections systems. These efforts reduce the amount of crime and illegal drugs reaching U.S. shores. Based on this, Col. Souh described the U.S. government as the brains behind the transformation of the LDEA to attain their present level of international standard. He then used the occasion to caution officers of the LDEA to stand firm in combating dangerous drugs in the country to save young Liberians from being contaminated by the use of various forms of illicit drugs. In her remarks, Madam Sally Schlegel praised the administration and employees of the LDEA for the level of support they accorded her during her tenure with the agency. She added: “I had good working relationship with the DEA.”Schlegel has now been replaced by Amy Schmisseur, another female American, as the new Country Director of the INL. She was briefly introduced to the DEA administration. Madam Schmisseur expressed her gratefulness for coming to Liberia and to work alongside the LDEA in order to make the entity more viable and stronger in their collaborative fight against drug-trafficking.She then lauded the efforts of the LDEA Director General “for his brilliant work to curtail the influx of illicit drugs into the country…prior to my coming, I was already informed about the good job the LDEA was doing by their actions to fight the importation of illicit drugs and its associated crimes on a daily basis.” Madam Schmisseur said fighting dangerous drugs suspected traffickers is something that needs consolidated effort by everyone, noting, “I will assist the LDEA in its drive to ensure that the necessary logistical and other supports to enhance their work are available.” The ceremony was climaxed with the gowning of outgoing INL Country Director Schlegel by the DEA for her “invaluable services rendered the agency over the years.” She served in Liberia from a little over four years.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more

Beidh meas ar an iarracht as seo amach, ní ar an chaighdeán atá acu, ach ar an iarracht,” ar seisean.Dúirt sé go raibh a aintín, Máire Nic Fhionnlaoich, a chuaigh sí i bhfeidhm go mór air.“Seanchaí a bhí inti agus chaith Máirtín Ó Cadhain seachtain ins an teach linn sna caogadaí agus ghlac sé síos cuid dena cuid scéalta ar téipeanna agus tháinig leabhar amach anuraidh, ‘Ó Cadhain i dTír Chonaill’. “Chuir Pádraig Ó Baoill amach é agus tá cuid dá cuid scéalta ansin. Agus níos fearr ná sin, tá dlúthdhioscaí dá cuid cainte ansin agus tá sé cosúil le glór ar ais ón tsíoraíocht. Bhí sí an-chineálta agus chuaigh sí i bhfeidhm go mór orm agus ar na deartháireacha eile a bhí sa teach.”Is féidir an t–agallamh a léamh anseo www.beo.ieTEAGHLACH, TEANGA, POLAITÍOCHT AGUS AN tAIRE was last modified: November 16th, 2011 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Dinny McGinleyDonnchadh Mac Fhionnlaoichlast_img
